Casting back twenty-five days into the past, join me in Chicago for the loud buzz of the cicadas, the deep green of the Midwest in summertime, the moistness everywhere, so oppressive after life in the land of the wildfires. The last two days of tour found me in a dizzy intersection, half of me wanting to touch in the the city, visit people and places; the other half desperate for stillness. In the end I whirled around my friend Dave’s apartment, a sweaty scirocco muttering about writing a tour update.
