People of Earth!
We are on the fulcrum of the tour, with as many days in front of us as behind. Yesterday was a day I will reflect on in a week when I return to my hospital job and my workmates ask, “How was your vacation?”
My brain gets stuck at the crossroads of this kind of question. I know what the social norm is—I’m supposed to reply with a meaningless, one-word answer like, “Good!” and a neutral descriptor like, “Got to eat Chicago pizza and gyros!” or maybe “Boy was it hot!” and then we can all get down to the business of moving individually plastic-wrapped medical doodads around the hospital. I’m grateful for this tour diary, so I can tell you all about how I rise at 5 or 6 am to edit photos, write a post, and run out the door to visit and talk all day long until I return to bed and do social media chores before falling asleep.
